Science+Football

As technology continues to become more integrated in our everyday lives, our societies are now fully immersed in a wave of applied electronic mechanics.  Today, science plays an integral role in every aspect of our existence, from gathering data on galaxies light-years beyond our own, to attempting to understand the most simple of forces of nature on our planet.  Thankfully, there were a few scientists out there who were smart enough to apply the technicalities of science to the beauty of football.

Thank you scientists...
This documentary filmed by SkySports unveils the amazing unknown facts of how incredibly talented a professional footballer really is.  Tested To The Limits examines footballer Cristiano Ronaldo beyond the obvious capabilities of his physical attributes.  They go far deeper than just investigating the facade of a footballers' extremely fit body and delve into the astounding mental attributes one requires,  to be the best at the sport.

Cristiano Ronaldo fit the bill perfectly to be a candidate for the experiment, as his incredible talent coupled with his gift of a body (which is similar to a Spartan on a strict carnal diet) are the reasons for his selection, NOT because of the studies attempting to heap more praise on the footballer.

A series of experiments and testing were conducted on CR7, and I must admit to being very impressed with his abilities.  Many of us measure a footballer by how well he is on the ball and what he can do with it at his feet.  This is only a fraction of what wholly constitutes a "good" footballer.  It's what a player does off of the ball that is important, his ability to read the play, anticipate the movement of the ball and ultimately, his positional awareness on the pitch.

It is a cognitive sport, you're always thinking about the present and the future; it is a sport that is both physically and mentally draining on the player and Tested To The Limits elucidates how distinct the line is between a top class footballer and an amateur, far beyond his physical capabilities.

ENJOY!
