The RYGO League - Complete wrap up of the Final Match-Day

THE RYGO LEAGUE

The grass was green and the action was red hot in the last edition of The RYGO League.  The quality displayed by all teams on the Final Match-Day is testament to the talent that this island garners and we must congratulate every participant on their brilliant efforts - win or lose.

Apropos Sporting Club was crowned the first league champions in phenomenal style, after resting in fourth place at the end of Match-Day Two, the Ras-tacklers did the job by winning all of their final matches to surge to the top of the table.  Frankensteins finished in second, while Footy Boyz F.C continued to build on their slow start to finish in a solid third.

Each team played three matches and had all to play for, which did nothing but intensify the atmosphere and brought the best out of each of them.  And we, the onlookers, were not let down as the final day lived up to all expectations.

FAIR PLAY

  • Apropos Sporting Club's Sylvan Parris deserves a special mention for the manner in which he conducted himself and controlled his team's temperament.
  • Carlos Brathwaite of the  Gooners  captained his team strongly and displayed great character in the face of minor adversaties that arose during the course of the league.  Brathwaite was very cool headed and was a great guy when interacting with his peers and especially when interacting with us.
  • Daniel Rowe, captain of Footy Boyz F.C conducted himself in a positive light that we thought was also worth a mention.
